Shakira has discussed ‘rebuilding’ her life following her split from ex Gerard Piqué as she releases her first album in seven years.
The chart-topper, 47, previously said she feels like she’s having a career renaissance after her headline-grabbing split from the footballer in 2022.
And now, she has released her highly anticipated 12th studio album Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran.
Speaking to The Times newspaper, Shakira said of the album: ‘[It’s] the transformation of pain into creativity, frustration into productivity, anger into passion, vulnerability into resilience.
‘There were so many pieces of my life that crumbled in front of my eyes and I had to rebuild myself in a way, picking up the bones from the floor and putting them all together. And the glue that kept it all together was music.’

Shakira added: ‘It’s very feminine and beautiful, with a very interesting story that is an analogy to women’s empowerment.’
In a recent chat with The Sunday Times, Shakira spoke again about how she balanced her personal life with her professional life.
‘For a long time I put my career on hold, to be next to Gerard, so he could play football,’ Shakira said. ‘There was a lot of sacrifice for love.’
Shakira and Piqué met in 2010 on the set of the songstress’ Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)’ music video.
They took their relationship public in May 2011 and welcomed son Milan in 2013 and Sasha in 2015.
The Spanish soccer player and Shakira announced their split after 11 years together in June 2022, after she learnt he had allegedly been unfaithful.
Gerard, 37, is now dating model girlfriend Clara Chia Marti, 25, after she moved into the home he used to share with the singer last August.
Shakira said she met Cardi B in Paris during fashion week and felt that her album needed a dose of her powerful strength. Shakira said she reached out and Cardi said yes.

Kerry, 43, who met Lucien on Celebrity Big Brother in 2011, previously said their ‘fling’ was ‘just a bit of fun’

Kerry, 43, who met Lucien on Celebrity Big Brother in 2011, previously said their ‘fling’ was ‘just a bit of fun’.
In the music video, which also stars Cardi B , Lucien showed off his ripped physique as he went shirtless to play a centaur who was hit by Shakira’s arrow.
Lucien’s character was then dragged into a hall occupied by the singers and their followers and Shakira cleaned off his wound while suggestively running her hands over his body.
Shakira went on to change into a pink cut-out bodysuit while performing with several backup singers following the conclusion of the song’s second chorus.
The singer then donned a pink dress and was joined by a healed Laviscount as she sat in the middle of a giant flower, in which the two caressed each other.
Cardi B kicked off the song’s final chorus by singing her lines while cleaning and feeding several of the other centaurs.
Shakira concluded the video by shooting an arrow into the distance, sending the group of centaurs back into space.
Since his appearance on Celebrity Big Brother, Waterloo Road star Lucien went on to play main character Emily’s love interest in hit Netflix drama Emily In Paris.

‘I have seen Lucien as Alfie in Emily In Paris on Netflix – he’s a great actor, so it’s no wonder he is being tipped to be the next Bond.’
‘People were even joking that I could have made a good Bond girl – and that just made me giggle!’ she laughed.
The Burnley-born actor, whose first role was as a child model for Marks & Spencer when he was ten, is deemed to be the perfect age to play Bond and is among the names tipped to take over from Daniel Craig .
